About the Client
Veritone is a US AI technology company that owns aiWARE – a platform integrating AI models for investigation, law enforcement, security, media, and the public sector.
Veritone Track is a web application that uses AI to help investigators track vehicles and Persons of Interest (POI) across multiple video sources without using personally identifiable information (PII).
The solution is used by investigation agencies, police departments, building security teams, hospitals, and organizations with surveillance systems.
The Challenge
Investigators must now handle massive video volumes collected from surveillance cameras, bodycams, dashcams, and mobile devices. With 80% of cases involving video evidence, investigators may spend hours or days watching footage frame by frame to locate suspects.
- Video volume is too large for manual review.
- Hard to track the same person across different cameras and camera angles.
- Need clear investigation timelines for reporting and prosecution.
- Must comply with data privacy rules and avoid using facial recognition or biometric information.
Agencies need a fast, accurate, and privacy-safe solution that automates video analysis and supports a complete investigation workflow.
SETA Solution
SETA International was assigned to build the web interface and entire processing workflow for Track - focusing on investigation experience, data organization, and handling AI results from the VSL Engine (Human-like Object Detection).
We developed:
- Intuitive workflows optimized for video investigation, enabling users to analyze, extract, and organize data across multiple videos.
- Integration with Veritone’s backend system (including the VSL – Video Scene Learning engine) through GraphQL APIs.
- Business logic processing on the frontend: pre-processing and post-processing for all AI interactions.
- A modern UI enabling users to: Upload, manage and play video files; View Human-like Objects (HLOs) detected by the AI engine; Group potential matches and build a consolidated investigation timeline; Integration with Veritone’s authentication service to ensure secure user access and data protection
Business Value
- Reduce video analysis time from hours to minutes: A 10-minute video can be processed in minutes instead of 8 hours of manual review.
- Track POI across multiple cameras more easily: Match Group and Potential Match Search tools connect information across videos, forming a complete narrative.
- Build clear investigative timelines: The Timeline Editor helps investigators consolidate evidence for reporting and prosecution.
- No facial recognition → higher privacy & PII compliance: Track uses Human-like Object Detection (HLO) only - no biometric identification collected or stored.
- Applicable across many sectors: Including government agencies, buildings, healthcare, events, and more.
- Improve investigator productivity: Analysts focus on relevant video segments instead of watching hundreds of hours of footage.
